Let's keep Coffs moving.

I'm a local family man and small business owner, standing as an independent to bring common sense, fresh ideas and less red tape to the decisions shaping our community.

Sam Johnston in Coffs Harbour

Independent. Local. Ready to serve.

Hi, I'm Sam.

Hi, I'm Sam Johnston, and I'm standing as an independent for Coffs Harbour Council.

I grew up in Toormina and I've been in business in Coffs since 2010, when I bought the local pizza shop in Toormina. I spent a few years in Sydney, where I met my wife, and when our first child came along we knew we wanted to raise our family back home in Coffs.

For the past six years I've run a local business that employs around 15 locals. I know what it takes to back yourself, create jobs and keep things moving.

Local business runs in our family. My mum, Mimi, has run Retreat Day Spa here since 2004, my brother Caleb owns Forest Built and employs plenty of locals, and my two sisters are involved right across the community. Between the four of us there are 13 kids, with number 14 on the way.

I'm a family man, and I believe family is at the centre of every good community. I want a Coffs where it's easier for locals to build a business, a home and a future, with common sense decisions and less red tape.

Let's keep Coffs moving.

Six values. One clear approach.

What I stand for.

Family

Family is at the centre of every good community. Every decision should help local families thrive.

Common Sense

Practical decisions, clear priorities and every ratepayer dollar spent wisely.

Honesty & Accountability

Open decisions, straight answers, and owning the outcome.

Less Red Tape

Simpler, faster processes so locals can build, start a business and get on with life in Coffs.

Initiative

Fresh ideas and the drive to get things done, not just talk about them.

A Better Future

Growth done well, so the next generation can build their future right here.
